Sue's Dreams Are Coming True!

Winner of Dear Doctor's Ultimate Smile Makeover

Smile makeover winner sue.

We are delighted to announce another winner of Dear Doctor's Ultimate Smile Makeover, Ms. Sue Tedrow of Caledonia, Michigan. Sue has endured a host of dental problems since childhood, some caused by the trauma of being kicked in the head by a horse.

Now the 47-year-old teacher's aide is finding that much of the extensive dental work she had decades ago needs replacement, while new problems have arisen. “I'm so excited,” Sue told us. “I have no dental insurance, so to get something like this — it's just huge!”

We are equally excited to be able to offer Sue and other Dear Doctor readers such a life-changing opportunity, and we wouldn't be able to do it without the generous support of our participating dentists and commercial sponsors.

Sue's dentists are Dr. Robin Vaughan and Dr. Shaun Williams, who practice at Glen Valley Dentistry in Caledonia. BioHorizons will supply any dental implants that may be necessary and Nimbus Dental will donate oral hygiene products needed to establish an efficient preventive program. Centric Laboratories, one of the leading dental laboratories in North America, will be providing the dental restorations for Sue to create that beautiful smile we all want. Invisalign will donate clear orthodontic aligners to straighten her teeth. We salute these dentists and company executives for their willingness to bring exceptional dentistry to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it, and we hope you will take note of their services.

Dr. Vaughan and Dr. Williams have completed a thorough examination and have identified all of Sue's dental problems that are in need of correction to return her to complete dental health while providing her with a cosmetic result she can be proud of, and work has begun. Sue has already received two root canal treatments, and will need more. She has failing crowns that have to be replaced, along with cracked, uneven teeth that need to be aligned. Discoloration of her teeth has been a long-standing problem.

Sue's outlook on her upcoming dental work is completely positive, notwithstanding childhood dental experiences that were less than pleasant. “I'm older now,” she said, “so anything they have to do doesn't bother me as it did when I was kid.” Sue expressed complete confidence in the dynamic duo of Drs. Vaughan and Williams, based on her dealings with them thus far.

Look for updates on Sue's exciting transformation in future issues of Dear Doctor magazine!
